I just won a heroic victory in one of my gallic provinces with 4 kluddargos against 2 batacorii, and was offered to adopt the captain as a family member. I accepted, and immediately he fell over dead, and his whole army disappeared.![]()

That happens sometimes - always has with RTW as far as I know. I thought it had something to do with the captain of the battle dying in the battle, but I'm not sure. I'd love to hear the right answer if anyone has it?
Oh - I'll retitle this for ease of reference - the title is a little vague.

indeed, it happened to me with vanilla rtw, and with other mods too...
could it be there are some numbered "slots" for "family members", the number of these slots depending of the number of your settlements, and if there is not a free slot (cause you have not enough settlements), the member disappear. It can happen even when you bribe some enemy general...

Possibly related to that problem we had (internal build only?) in which Gallic candidates for adoption dropped dead immediately upon being accepted?

I think it happens to all factions though - and in vanilla too. It'd be nice to know what causes it. Surely some of the basic RTW fora or modding fora here or at TWC would have someone who knows.
Thanks for the quick replies (and the retitle TA, sorry, I was a little surprised and frustrated).
I refought the battle, and was offered another adoption, but I didnt accept this time as the candidate was awful.
Obelics: I dont think its because I have hit the limit, as I have about a dozen settlements, and only about 6 generals. My family members tend to die before they have kids.
well, then i have no idea...Originally Posted by Kugutsu
