Default Windows Vista and Total War?

I am contemplating purchase of a new laptop. Most PC makers will now sell only Windows Vista pre-installed, it's hard to get XP now.

Will RTW run on Vista? For that matter, will M2TW run on Vista?

    Thanks for any advice...

    Hi Antiochus Nicator,
Yep, they will, yet sadly, R:TW in particular, will suffer a few performance negatives until the Vista compatable graphics drivers come out. Hope this helps you, cheers!

Next week i'm finally getting my new machine: an Intel C2D 6600 based PC with GF8-8800 GT card. With XP-Pro, ofc. I didnt want the Vista yet. Will get it one day, when SP1 is out and when the new games will start to insist that i install the Vista on my machine. So, XP it is.

I've had no problems at all using Vista with RTW or MTW2, infact, due to the way Vista runs, all games run smoother on Vista. Well, maybe not alot smoother yet as Vista is still beta and riddled with bugs, but it will be better.

That's very odd Cody900, many people here at the .org have been having slow-downs with gaming in Vista. There are two threads which discuss this issue that, I unfortunately, do not have the time to dig up at current. Sorry.

BTW, discussion of illegal software is not permitted here at the Org. Please read the rules for more information.

Yeah, I know, I didn't link anything or suggest anywhere specific that it could of been picked up from, thought it would of been ok, my bad.

People who experience any slow-downs would either of been because their computers suck and can't run Vista properly, or they tried the first beta of Vista, which used 512MB of RAM when IDLE. Which was utterly ridiculous, I suggest they try a newer and updated version of Vista.
