I'd reccomend LtC as a good first mod since it fixes alot of the basic problems. But as mentioned might want to wait on after the patch goes live.

The patch will do a couple things. Fix problems obviously but its going to have the modders go back and redo or retweak their mods. The patch is also going to allow modders to make even better mods with the new added featrues and abilites. We should see some really cool mods with the new patch.
