    Exclamation Scary crashes

Hi, I'd much appreciate it if anyone could please help me with this problem. Firstly after installing EB onto a 1.5 clean installation of Rome when I started loaded the faction Rome the map was lacking in detail e.g settlements, armies etc and there wasn't the bar that crosses the bottom of the window that allows you to pick what units to build etc. When I moved the mouse cursor my computer crashed to a scary blue screen that said among other things dumping physical memory or something else along those lines. After re-installing several times (yes took forever) the same thing happened.

As a last ditch effort I re-downloaded EB (1.8a) and re-installed (hoping that the previous version had become corrupted). After starting a campaign as Baktria, I was amazed and euphoric to find the map loaded fine and i started playing.
However it was too good to be true because i found that if I moved across the map during AI turns or used the mini map to change my view the same crash happened. Even if i avoided this after taking a city the game returned to a messed up map which subsequently crashed to the same blue screen.

I don't know much technical knowledge about computers but the crashes seem quite serious and i don't want to damage my computer. One of the error messages on the blue screen blames the file 'ati3duag.dll'. Is there a fix i can do wich will enable me to play EB (please please) or is the problem EB is too demanding for my computer (512RAM)

Sorry if this question is already answered but i've already waded through 10 pages of threads and i've found nothing similar.

    Thanks

I would say that lack of RAM is the problem, but with 512MB you should be able to play (though slow). Do you have any other RAM taxing programs running at the same time?

ati3duag.dll is part of the ATI video drivers. Have you tried upgrading them to the latest version? If you have, have you tried downgrading them to various earlier versions? I had a ed up XFX (NVidia) card once that required a driver that was at least 18 months old to not crash after two minutes in any DirectX9c game (yep, that's RTW too). Worst support ever from XFX... I ended up having to buy a new card.

Your lack of memory will make the game very slow, but should not cause a blue-screen-of-death.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

I do NOT answer PM requests for help with EB. Ask in a new help thread in the tech help forum.
