How to recruit Siege Engines as Romani?

My problem is precisely as stated in title. I play as Romani, now have Polybian era units and can recruit them without problems. But I cannot recruit any siege engines.

I looked into buildings datafile and it looks like they should be available from mid to high level barracks, but none are present...

For example, I have second highest Polybian barrack in Roma and nothing.

Are they available only since certain date? And I met such units in the hands of my enemies.

Historically, the Romans of the early republic did not construct their own siege weapons, instead relying on hired Greek engineers to do this. EB simulates this by making siege weapons only available in Greek cities (at least during the Polybian era). IIRC you need a regional MIC for this.

I've seen this said several times. I have a level 5 regional MICs in Athens and Syracuse, and no siege engines. What cities are they available in, if any?

I built them in Syracuse as Carthage.

What sort of government do you have there?

IIRC during the Polybian era I couldn't build seige engines anywhere, not that it really bothered me. Once you hit the marians you can make the whole works.

Type IV governments in both. I'm now thinking that you cannot in fact build Greek siege machines as Rome.

O'course when I reach the Marian era things will be different.

In 080, siege engines were in the Roman Polybian factional MIC. Since you can't build them in Greek towns, you can't build siege engines in Greek towns. I don't know if this is the same problem in 081 though.
