"Nappy headed ho"? Sorry Imus, you gotta go...

The biggest problem I have is the racial double standard at work. Imus is a comedian, he's a morning talk show shock jock that has made a career out of insensitive remarks and shocking chat. There's a big difference between a comedian known for making fun of anyone and everyone using the term 'nappy headed hos' to get a laugh than say, an evening news anchor using the same term in an off hand remark. On the other hand Dave Chappelle, who was notorious for casting a wide ethnic net, routinely singled out non-black ethnic groups and nobody thought twice about it.

Like Trent Lott Imus was a fool to apologize, let alone agree to go on Sharpton's turf and turn this into a pop culture 'incident'. A quick comeback or tirade using a 'voice of reason' could have diffused the entire situation and made Sharpton look like a bigger phony and fool than he already is. Imus apologizing just made things worse.

Agreed. For some reason, when I caught Imus apologizing on the nightly news, and I saw the predatory gleam in Sharpton's eyes, all I could picture was buckets of chum being tossed to a shark. Apologizing to Sharpton just feeds the frenzy.
