I voted "happy"
The big bugs are gone and only the odds & sods remain. Definately brings the game into the realm of playable. I am sorry to say that pre patch I was a whinner and to me the game was playable by the slimmest of margins.
But thats all gone now provided no-one does something silly between now and final patch release.
I would be very interested to know why someone voted not satisfied and gah!
Did they play the patch?
First, can you edit it and put in an option for those who aren't using it but curious and another one for those who won't use it until the official one comes out. I personally will wait until its official.
Also, how do you make a poll? I have a good one but I don't know how.

Work-Still hate it but I appreciate having it more now.
Girlfriend - ? - looks like I am helping Nga now. Miss sex though.
Responsibilities, Too many bills to too little money
Reality - (Censored)
Kids - My son is improving a little bit each day, still far behind but I may have more kids in the future.
MTW - Kingdoms installed but...Urggg, too soon.

Conclusion, Life is worth Living now.
I voted happy. It does seem most of the major issues are gone but I have not spent enough time with it to trust it.
Do unto others before they do unto you.
I voted happy...
Played just a little... Not enough to see if all worked correctly (which I think it certainly doesn't) but enough to see that a lot of the problems that made me mad before have been dealt with...
To my experience, it feels almost like playing with Carl's PBFixer...
So I'm a happy camper...![]()

Everytime i sally out a siege i just hesitate if i should shot the enemy dead on their lovely ram or ladders......
If this is the final patch i would stop playing this game i think.![]()
I voted happy. It would be great if the damn siege AI when you sally wasn't still passive. But it is.
However, I love what they have achieved with this and hope it gets better with the official release.

I'm happy with the leaked patch. It's most everything we were promised it would be, and some extras that were never mentioned too. A great many facets of the game have quite noticeable improvements, not the least of which are the AI (both campaign and battle to a lesser extent), diplomacy, and the eradication of many problematic bugs. Some things of course slipped through (like I keep hearing discontent about router chasing still, though I've yet to see it go badly), but in general it feels like a fully working game now. IMO it's about the most any reasonable person would expect to possibly have fixed in one patch, which is good on the part of CA/SEGA.
I've been playing with v1.1 and Carl's Problem fixer pure thingy but havn't moved to the leaked patch because of the need to re-install and I'm not sure if all the trait and ancillary stuff that is fixed in the problem fixer is fixed in the patch.
In the opinion of those playing the leaked patch, is it better than v1.1+problem fixer or should I wait for the official release or even wait for the inevitable official v1.2 + updated problem fixer combo?
leaked v1.2, no question. Carl's work is great, but there is only so much that you can do with a mod. The shield and 2-hander bugs are not possible to fix in a mod, you can only make a workaround. In the patch they are fixed.
Still maintain that crying on the pitch should warrant a 3 match ban

I vote Gah for the following reasons - I must say I havent played the patch - but I have been reading the 1.2 bug thread so I feel I can still comment
a) leaked patch - wheres the real one - GAH!
b) still passive AI on sally - OMG seriously is it this hard to program the AI to attack - sounds to me like some serious underlying framework or logic problem - deep in ground in the code
c) check out the bugs list - unit cohesion - path finding - chasing routers - hmm no changes there
I stopped playing this game for 2 reasons - firstly I am waiting for my new system so I can actually get some satisfaction out of the grotuitous graphics - atm my system with the lowest setting the game is worse than RTW (unit appearance and distinguishing at distance) - and runs real slooooowwww.
- secondly EB 0.81a is out and simply blows MTW2 away
I am looking forward to playing this game again briefly to soak up those graphics - when I get the new PC
but after that I fear it will go on the shelf for a couple of years till a decent mod comes out - and there are more units (than every faction spearmen, swordmen, cav)
- every city the same - take one take em all = no difference
this game needs some serious work to give it any longevity
Well, I'm pretty darned happy with the patch so far - it got me back to playing the game after a very nice 2 month interlude with EB... As for the unit cohesion, path finding and router chasing issues - these have been made so much better by the patch in my experience at least (I play on large unit settings, so maybe it's more of an issue for people playing on huge?)
Yes, there are still issues that need a little bit of work, but I'd say it was a very good effort by CA overall. Now I just hope that when the patch is officially released, they'll have managed to fix a few of the more obvious omissions.
I think you are right there actually. I find that larger units in both Rome and M2TW are more awkward to use. Doesn't stop me thoughOriginally Posted by Zatoichi

edit but IMO the fact we are having a poll about a leaked patch rather than a legit one says it all... GAH!!!!
Thx everyone the responses. It would be nice though if those who voted "not satisfied" would explian their choice. It would help both the fellow ORGahs and the devs![]()

I'd actually like to change my vote now to "Not Satisifed". Unit cohesion which is a big deal for me isn't remotely improved at all, I think it's still as bad as it was when the game is released to be honest. Also I think I've encountered the "passive AI" deal that the devs were talking about, mainly in custom siege battles. If that's truly what it is, then the AI will basically do nothing at all in certain circumstances depending on proximity to your defending units, and if they are under attack by defenses. What's wierd is they will end up routing, but will stand perfectly still in routing mode.
Wasn't overly disappointed with the original version since I tended to compare it to the first MTW not Rome, try looking at it in that perspective. I has happy with the first patch and am delighted with the second patch, especially with Diplomacy.
So-so.
It is a major improvement, but it fixes stuff that shouldn't be there in the first place. These were simple mistakes that should have been avoided. It is good to see them righting their wrongs, but they need to more of it A.S.A.P.

The idiotic anti-blob effect has been toned down, so it's a good step.
But it's still destroying the battles, so it's not satisfactory.
As for the rest, countless bugs fixed, but countless more remaining.
Still quite "so-so".

Just want to know how can I install this patch(1.2) over 1.1 version? Need to reinstall or there is another(faster) way? Just want to keep my save files![]()

AFAIK, you can't install on top of 1.1, you have to reinstall from scratch.Originally Posted by tex_-

Yep and be warned, the patching process itself takes a good half hour.Originally Posted by Akka
Id say it's worth it though. Although bear in mind that when the official 1.2 is released you'll probably have to reinstall again. Or I will be just to be sure of avoiding any bad juju.
Also, welcome! Even though Ive spoken to you twice![]()

Wanted to add that the save files are easy to keep. Find your Medieval II Total War folder, and simply copy the "saves" folder to a safe location. When you are finished with all the reinstalling and patching, copy your saves folder back to the Medieval II Total War folder, and your saves will be back, just like they never left. Note, however, that people have reported some oddities when using old savegames with 1.2. Most notably, you may have all your traits become the wrong thing: it seems they changed the trait file (likely added and/or removed some) which means that traits in save games all get shifted around weirdly. It's recommended to start a new campaign in order to avoid those potential weird things.Originally Posted by tex_-

First I think the added modability they added, while not much is, while limited something I love despite the limitations.
Link: should be on your MTW2 launcher![]()
I like the textures in mod files being recognized and the ability to add my own sound packs as the greatest.
The new total war launcher is not that great, mostly because the musics so loud, I doubt i'll use it much but the voting strand on it is nifty.
Also It has not crashed once for me, and let me tell you 1.1 and 1.0 crashed on me too much.
That plus the bugs they fixed make me a happy camper.
Urrgggg, I voted not satisfied because I installed it and although the extra screen on the startup doesn't bother me, I had a CTD during the loadup screen of a battle. Yes it was a siege but thats fine.
I will be autocalcing until the new patch comes out.

Budwise, that was the reason it was pulled back. You have to do a clean install of the game before applying the patch, skipping the 1.1 patch. Then it works like a charm.

gunpowder delaued for 50 years - very good
Passive AI (and not only sieges) -Still bad
Hashashim now the most uber overpowered unit in game - Bit silly (5 units left after 100 years out of original 20 , all 3 gold chevrons and lose on average 2 men per unit in sieges against knights/bodyguards
