    Default Re: Diadochi Total War

After noone is looking at our forums,i decided to popst that here:
Here is the complete redone Kush Faction

    The Kushites

    --319 B.C. --
The reigning qore (king) of Kush is Nastasen. He ascended the throne in around 335 BC and stayed their til 310 BC (315 BC and the earliest). He was a warrior king and left inscriptions in Gebel Barkal about his two major military feats. He was the last Kushite king to be buried at the then capital of Napata.

Here's a depiction of him directly from his stela
"The king wears a pointed Egyptian kilt, a diadem with uraeus and streamers, a broad collar, and wide armlets and bracelets. An animal's tail hangs from his belt."

Wars of Kush during this period
The first of his military endeavor saw him lead a Kushite army north to meet an invasion from the Achaemanid Empire (Persians) led by Cambyses II. He crushed the army and took many prizes from them (cattle and ships according to the stela).

After that, he led his armies against numerous incursions frm eastern (East of Napata) desert Nomads called Matit. This began when the Matit raided into Kush at the city Kawa and looted some offerings to the God Amun (Nearly all Egyptian gods were worshiped by Kushites).

    Family of the Qore
    His mother was Pelekhe
His wife was Sakhmakh, queen co-regent (kandake)

    Kushite Soldier Appearance
Kushite soldiers didn't wear much clothing. Most soldiers wore a kind of loin cloth (looks like a real short skirt to me) of a yellow or orang color with a belt. Attached to the belt is an animal tail (feline, like a tiger or leapord). Their hair is suprisingly Egyptian. They are usually depicted with bowl cut hair styles or short, curly afros. A white headband is worn on the crown of the head. Bead necklaces are also common.

    Kushite Soldier Armament
The mainstay of Kushite weaponry is the bow. Kushite bowmen were extremely accurate and had amazing range. Their skill with the bow can not be overstated. THE EGYPTIAN HIEROLYPH FOR NUBIA IS A BOW.

The only weapon among the Kushites that is nearly as prevalent as the bow is the axe. The axe was used in conjunction with the bow for close combat or as the primary line of defense. I couldn't find any pictures of kushite axes, but I know they were made of iron by this time period.

Kushites adopted chariots from Egyptians by 712 BC and also used regular cavalry. The Kushites, according to Assyrians, were expert horsemen. They revered horses (qores were sometimes buried with horses).

The Kushites used animal hide shields (horse hide and elephant skin). These wouldn't be effective against persian or greek melee weapons, but offered good defense from arrows.

Kushites also had a reverence for elephants. They were used as trainers for elephants in Egypt and the near east. The only description of Kushite use of elephants in war is the questionable story of Candace of Meroe whom faced off against Alexander the Great at the head of a Kushite army atop an elephant. No persian or roman accounts of Kushite war elephants exist to my knowledge.

    *Side Notes
The Kushites were darn near fanatical about their religous devotion. The Kushite conquest of Egypt was seen as a holy war on behalf of the god Amun by Qore (Pharaoh) Piye. They served in Egyptian armies since 2900 BC (Pharaoh Djer). They were ever present at policemen (Medjay tribes of Kush)

Excellent job! Nubian Heavy Spearmen look great. Glad you got the hairstlye thing right. REALLY like the Meroe Archers. And the Nubian Cavalry...can't get enough of the zebra skin shield. I wish you could make the lesser general a unit by itself. He looks wicked!

    Hello everyone!

Since, according to Caius, work fully stopped on this mod, Gebeleisis and myself are planning on re-working this mod. We will try to incorporate as many features that were already in D:TW, but we will try and make it even more historically accurate.

    We are currently looking for:

Everyone! Everyone that feels he or she could be of help, please PM either me or Gebeleisis! From skinners to scripters, from animation specialists to 2D artists, I'm sure you could be of help! However, at the moment, we are really looking for a...

Historian on either India or Nubia

Someone who knows their way in the EDU and such

    OORAH HAX!
Glad to be of help...anything on the Italics is my game...I might be able to supply a humble amount of Indian history. No effing clue about Numidia, sorry.

We Samnites were a warlike Italic tribe in the Appenines...we had little more than goats and wine to call to our name. We lost a 200+ year war to the Romani and lost our place in mainstream history. The Roman Empire would collapse several hundred years later, in an orgy of pain and destruction, and lost all that they had worked for. It is now nearly 2,000 years later. And do you know what the funny thing is? The Romani are gone. And I sit here in the foothills of the Appenines...herding my goats and sipping my wine.

    pwned.

Hooray! Diadochi: Total War returns from the grave...er,funeral pyre.
Seriously, though,I wish I could be of help, but my history knowledge is pretty limited to the Mediterranean region. I do have a good amount of Hellenistic arms and armor knowledge, though, so if you need to know anything, just PM me.
