Porting shield wall to EB-BI?

Do I go to the descr_unit file and manually type in shield wall for all classical phalanx units?

Yes, I did it. I really wasn't happy with the results. It made the units mash together front to back, I just didn't like the way it looked, I never used it. I think there are also stat bonuses the units get when in that formation, which may throw things off.

I remember reading someone raving about how great it made their hoplites behave. So someone out there liked it.

EDIT: Oh, I never tried it with Phalanx units, just all the classical hoplites. I think you can only have one or the other, sheildwall or phalanx...

I dont know...They looked extremely more realistic in shieldwall IIRC the Hegemonia mod is using it since its set in Classical Greece and on BI....
Without it there isnt that tight locked shields feeling...

I've found it useful for charging straight into the longer-spear phalanx units, like pezhetairoi....the classical hoplites when in shieldwall for me at least have a tendency to easily break up the pezhetairoi's formation...

is there a mod/program out there that gives all hoplite units the shield wall? I don't think I can manually go and cut/paste shield wall for the hundreds of hoplite units that don't have the word "hoplite" in their name
