Default On the availability of Belgian cavalry

I'm asking this on behalf of Karielle, who's playing Aedui. She has conquered Bratosporios and Bagacos, but has discovered that no matter what level of MIC she builds, factional or local, she is unable to recruit that excellent Remi Mairepos, and Taramonnos light cavalry. She has tried them on both govt 2 and 4. Does this mean the Aedui are not going to have a source of proper heavy cavalry until the reforms when they can build Brihentin? Who gets to train the Belgae horsemen?

Taramannos are only available after the 1st reform and (as far as I remember) the Remi Mairepos only after the 2nd reform.

Gah, thanks... I guess it was wishful thinking that she'd found a useful intermediate alternative to Brihentin in the meantime. So I guess that means the Aedui are really going to have to depend on their naked men since the only cavalry they're gonna have are the Leuce Epos.

To quote Karielle, 'I'm so not gonna wait for the reforms, I can do with Leuce Epos!'

Taramonnes are quite good. In my casse campaign I recruited some of them and used them to butcher gaesatae. They have a useful javelin attack, and a pretty strong charge. Just dont leave them in melee...

Yes, but I would be rather more attracted to the Mairepos, firstly because they are much heavier and can take much more damage while losing less men, but also because I am not very good at using javelin cavalry. :D And ironically, I am now playing Baktria.

"Let us remember that there are multiple theories of Intelligent Design. I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."

I wish it didn't have to be the case, sigh. Dammit, AS keep trying to snatch Alexandropolis and Pura away from me before I can get to them. And I am nowhere strong enough to take on any of the Indian cities. Yeeks.

Well, looks like I won't be seeing those reforms as I'd intended.. Finally updating to 0.81a kind of puts that out of the question. <_< Never mind, on to Baktria! Throwing things at problems till they go away sounds pretty good to me..
