How many cultures are possible?

Since they increased the number of factions (from RTW), I really really really really hope they increased the number of possible cultures. We had seven possible ones in RTW. Could someone let me know how many are possible in MTW2?

If it is still seven, is there a way to beg for a couple more at least to be added? For modders, this really would open up big doors. More difference can be created between the ones that are there, for example if the map is expanded a little more to include some other areas, or if the mod is set in RTW-period (when culture divisions like celts vs. other barbs, or India culture, or a combo greek-nomad culture for cities along the north black sea, etc.). This really really would be huge.
