Aaargh .. game won't run when I unpacked

Well...it starts OK, but as soon as I tried to fight a custom battle, it crashes with an 'unspecified error'.

I have tried this with the 2 different options, and have patched to 1.1 ( or whatever) and run the unpack all successfully. The custom battle loads all the way before the crash, and fails when it tried to actually start the battle.

I have changed NONE of the files. Just unpacked.

p.s. I also deleted the two descr_geography files too.

Hmm that's wierd, your description about crashing to desktop after the custom battle is loaded concurs with the problem I had after unpacking. Though after deleting those two geography files everything was fine.
Probably something went wrong during unpacking.

What do you know .... turns out I had a duff copy of the patch! I had created a nice fresh install to play with, to make sure I had no hidden twekas or text messing..... and had re-downloaded the patch. When I re-traced my steps. I found the game crashed as soon as I installed the patch...and the unpacking was nothing to do with it! I still got the crash.

Fresh download, and the thing works a treat now.... wierd or what! This is the first time I have had a bad download that extracted perfectly and ran ok.... live an learn
