    Default Governments

I just wanted to talk about governments, I'm currently playing Koinon Hellenon
and I found that a tyrant is the best government, maybe you have a different opinion, I would like to here it.

The system works as follows. A gov1 will allow the highest factional MIC, so the best and most elite factional units will be avaliable with this government. With the KH it is represented by the martial-orientated Spartan government. But the gov1 does not allow many if at all any regional troops. A gov4, however, allows for all regional troops to be recruited, but no factional units can be. A gov3 allows some factional troops but not many, whilst a gov2 allows most factional troops but only slightly more regional variation than the gov1.

However, we suggest role-playing should guide where and when you place your governments, as this really adds depth to the game.

You just act it out. There are somethings that the game just cannot represent, most things actually, and so instead of playing the game just as a game you play as if those things that the game cannot emulate are choices you have to make. Perhaps you conquer a province, but you decide that instead of putting the best government type you can in it, you put a lower gov because your faction leader has commanded it or something. Basically, stop playing it has a game, and start playing it as if you really were those people at that time.

    That seems easy enough.

Like with KH keep Sparta, Rhodes and Athens separated, each with their own armies, if they need any. They can of course support each other in dire times, but if, let's say, Sparta invades Syracusa, use only units from Sparta, their subjucated allied states and mercenaries. That's simple enough to start with.

And simply Game-wise, Spartan Agoge government does not have any significant benefit over Hellenic colony. Both have reduced population grow, but Agoge more reduced, and both have reduced income (one by reducing tax, second by reducing trade)

In the buildings datafile I discovered Agoge has some sort of bonus when building military ?

But most elite units can be trained even in level 2 government, I am speaking about epilektoi hoplitae, and Thorakitai, they are from tier 4 factional barracks. Spartiates are from tier 5, but they are Sparta only (at least I did not discovered other AOR for them)

Maybe there are some building that can be build only in Agoge, but again I did not found any.

I installed several Agoge government where I could, to use my spartiates governors, as they are more efficient there. It seem that spartiate governor governing Agoge gets good administrator trait very soon, but it can be just coincidence. I have 2 more beside Sparta itself in my KH game and 22+ cities.

I have kept Sparta as the only gov level1 in my Greek campaign, as I figure only Spartans can come from Sparta.
If I were to build a Gov level 1 in another city would that mean I could train Spartans in there as well ?

No. You can train them only in Sparta itself.

Only in Sparta (and they are not this wonderful thing, in the game...)
