    Default command stars

maybe some of u guys know about this. I get awarded sometimes command stars or +1 or +2 in command which translates into a star BUT they dont show up on the character card. Is that normal or a bug?.thx

Maybe the character has some traits which give him some -1 command?

A lot of the command stars we award through traits are dependent on certain situations.

BUT if u see the window with the guys awarding u a star then it does not matter the trait, u got it already and it doesnt come up on the card.

There are some traits which give you negative command ratings... like connoiseur which give -2 command... what you see on the card and on the campaign map will show only the final value (after adding/subtracting the values given by retinues and traits). you will also see some traits/retinues giving you something like "+1 comman when attacking". In this case if you character on teh campaign map shows up with 1 command star, when you attack, in the pre battle screen it will show 2 command stars bcos of the trait/retinue.

Yeah, if a guy spend any time in a city, he will probably get negative command. After one battle I had a guy get a trait that gave +3 Command and I though, "Nice!", then I looked and he had only 1 Command due to negative traits. (I think he had +5 Command and -4 Command all together.)

yeah.. it is difficult to get +ve command traits and more so to avoid -ve ones. I guess since the command stars give a boost to attack/defence as well, the EB team made a decision to make it difficult and compensating with the more realistic morale traits

I have two generals who have been fighting for years. But only one of them has golden star and it is only one star. It seems impossible to get stars. And appearantly AI genarals do not have such kind of problem.

Ignore command stars, the traits your general has will show how good your general actually is in battle, and what situations he excels at.

It is also because the AI tends to fight with roughly even battle odds, which is what you need to do to get stars. I have a few generals with 3 or 4 stars each.

It also very much depends on the intelligence and charisma of your general. If he isn't very bright, chances he gets a command star are not that high. Unfortunately, you cannot see exactly how intelligent/charismatic a general is, only the broad trend.

Expanding on Ludens' post, there are actually two major paths to acquiring command stars: through the GoodLeader trait (linked to Charisma) and through the GoodTactician trait (linked to Intelligence).

What is the maximum no of stars you can get with each of these traits?

Its still hard but its always sweet to see one of your old man with 5+ stars.
