1.0 then patch 1.2 on top. I then unpacked. Removed the 2 files but did not make a .Bat file. It works for me and I hope I did it right. SadCat![]()
seem to be having a problem extracting /updating. Have had to unistall/reinstall three times so far due to crashes. Have the 1.0 version and transferring the update to the same folder. When extracted I get a MTW shield logo with 20mb 9 ending up in a sub folder)and a set up exe file by micromedia. which do i activate first
A simple step by step process please as i am a bit thick with computer processes.
thanks
run setup.exe
Although this sounds like patch 1.1 - you do not need nor want it if you're upgrading to the unofficial 1.2

given up wasted last night and this morning simplt installing crashing and reinstalling. Its def the 1.2 from segas site.
There is no official 1.2 patch on the SEGA site, there is only 1.1. The 1.2 patch currently available is an unofficial version and can be downloaded via torrent, or found on filefront where several people have uploaded it.

With clean computer I installed 1.0 off the disks to it's preferred location. I patched 1.2 from briefcase using ' http://files.filefront.com/MIITW_Upd.../fileinfo.html ' for source of .EXE file. I then read the read me note to unpack files and did so as directed in said readme. It told me to remove 2 files by name. Did that. Said if I was going to mod the game to make a .BAT file. Do not know how to mod so did not make a BAT file. When the new patch fixes come out will do that. I did make most factions playable as in frogbeastegg's guide. I then hit the Medieval 2 total war button on my computer. It wanted to go on line. That is the first change I saw followed by a new splash screen. Did that help you? Well I got mine to work at long last. I got a copy of the sound folder that had the problems I was having and replaced mine with it.
I also downloaded the patch from filefront and from a bittorrent all over again and put them in different locations.
The patch I got off filefront did not work but the Bittorrent Patch did this time around.
So if you get a specific error msg about a file try to get somone to send you those specific files as yours might be corrupt.
Also try to DL the patch from more then one source and try to load it using both. One might work.
Also alot of weird stuff can happen when you DL a torrent so you can try to DL it again. It might have missed something or gotten a bit that was corrupted from an odd source.

I put a clean install of M2TW. I then downloaded the unofficial patch. Installed that. Seems to work fine. Now I playing England to test those Halberdiers.
