A somewhat surprising but good decision IMO

I personally think this is a slight misinterpretation made by certain individuals. In my opinion, it's more of a "end-of-a-cycle and beginning-of-a-new-cycle" kinda thing.

Imagine the tourism income if a country can hold spectacles like these.

Congratulations. Don't worry about the Mayan calendar, just get the tournament finished before Dec. 21, 2012 and you'll go out on top.

Would've preferred Croatia and Hungary, myself. But well done, hopefully it'll go smoothly.

Hmmm...perhaps there is a hope the euro's will come to Norway and Sweden in a a decade or two?

What's the stadium capacity in ukraine and poland, btw?
Still maintain that crying on the pitch should warrant a 3 match ban

As far as I'm aware you're looking at roughly 80,000 in the Central Stadium in
Kiev, and around 50,000 for Shakhtar. Half that for Dynamo, though I think
    they'd all get a boost before 2012.

    Edit: List of venues

    Poland

    Poznań: Municipal Stadium - 46,500
    Warsaw: National Stadium - 70,000
    Wrocław: Olympic Stadium - 40,000
    Gdańsk: Baltic Arena - 40,000

    Reserve grounds

    Chorzów: Silesia Stadium - 60,000
    Kraków: Wisła Stadium - 30,000

    Ukraine

    Kyiv: Olimpiysky - 83,450
    Donetsk: Shakhtar Stadium - 50,000
    Lviv: Ukraina Stadium - 36,000
    Dnipropetrovsk: Dnipro Stadium -31,003

    Reserve grounds

    Odessa: Tsentralnyi-Chornomorets Stadium - 34,362
    Donetsk: RSK Olimpiyskyi - 34,000

[Sweden had quite a decent tournament in '92, which I'm guessing you're aware of, so I suppose Scandinavia could be coming round again soon enough.]
