Hi Gandalf, welcome again, I've moved your thread from the forge, as you are just recruiting and haven't firmed up ideas yet I think Mod Discussion is more appropriate forum.

You might need to firm up ideas a bit anyway to encourage other people to join.

Btw (unlike most mods in here) you haven't listed that you need modellers, does that mean you can do modelling? That would be a distinct advantage if you can....

thanks. I do need moddellers and now have firmed up my ideas. Arm: Total War will be based in the dark age of around 600-1066. There will be a more concentrated campaign map focused in on Britain and the west of europe; France and Germany, (not called that). The game will finish with either being on one side at the battle of Hastings. Arm will mainly use the campaign map on Britian and so many new towns and regions will be in Britain. There will be new units such as saxon raiders with axes and shields, (bit like Medieval Total War) You can play as Britain, Normandy- sub France, France *without Normandy*, the Biritish rebels and Saxons (very localised).

    I need: Moddellers
    Designers
    Coders
    Scripters
    Graphic Designers
    Testers/installer maker

Please tell me if you want to join I have enough knowlegde to do certain tasks. Please help. The Mod will be called Arm: Total War and on RTW and ATW maybe.

Greetings Gandalf, I know you haven't got an edit function for your posts at the moment but you do seem to be bumping this thread a little bit too much!

Glad to see you're asking in questions section about mapping and looking at learning how to do more of the modding work yourself as well. If you can get a major element of the work done yourself people might be more enthusiastic about joining team. You shouldn't get impatient about it, there are lots of mods in more advanced stages also looking for people.

For RTW there seem to be more people around with mod ideas than there can possibly be team members to fill positions! With that in mind you may also want to consider idea of joining another team instead (or as well) once you've gained some more experience in a specific aspect of modding.

What you would need the best: motivation. You have to prepare yourself for at least one year of intensive work, and to learn most modding skills yourself as it is harder and harder to recruit people.

    Now, some suggestions:
    - 600-1066 is way too large for a timescale. Such a mod would involve not only the factions you listed but lot of others, including Vikings. You should better restrict your timeframe to a precise era, or begin at an event. For exemple if you like Carolingian era you can start with Charlemagne beeing young, and in Britain you will have Mercia, but Norses will be also involved. If you want more feodal era start in the XIth century. If you want more "Dark Ages" start in the VI or VIIth century
    - the name of your mod is not very inspirating at all. Try something more original
    - your factions (Britain, Normandy- sub France, France *without Normandy*, the Biritish rebels and Saxons) are not accurate. Taking a North Western Europe with British isles, Gaul and Germany (and Scandinavia) at the time you will have only for Britain in 600 AD Dumnonia/Devon, Dyfed, Glywysing, Gwynedd, Powys, Rheged, Strathclyde, Picts, Mercia, Bernicia, Deira, East Anglia, Wessex, Kent, and many others that were not united at the time... If you start, let's say in the IXth century there a bit less of choices, but with such a map you will also have Irish, Frankish kingdoms involved and possibly Vikings...
    - You spoke about using ATW, I dunno if you meant Alexander or Arthurian TW. If you wish to use Arthurian TW as a basis - and depending on your precise timescale it will probably make the work easier for you - we can give you the autorisation. But we will have to be sure of your motivation and so on. Great things can be achieved using our map, we wished to do kind of "campaigns" with Urien Rheged, Northumbria or earlier on Hengest but we don't had time to do so... If someone else want to try so be it.

I agree with Agreas. Even large known mod teams like RTR for example has trouble attracting the right people.

Since this is your first time attempting to mod I would suggest to do a minimod base on existing mods out there. Arthurian TW might be a good start since it's basically the same period of you intended mod so at least uyou have the map ready.

Or you can base on Chivalry for example, but since you mod starts from 600 AD, any BI mods should be okay.
Say: O unbelievers, I serve not what you serve, nor do you serve what I serve, nor shall I serve what you are serving, nor shall you be serving what I serve.
To you your religion, and to me my religion.
