Apparently a lot of young Russian like to celebrate the birthday of the guy who actually attacked their country once upon a time.

What's even worse, the best thing the Russian government seems to want to do against the racist violence that accompagnies this 'joyful event' is to advice foreigners to stay indoors. Maybe in the future they can get their own seperate districts in the cities too ? Which get sealed of every evening ? For their own protection of course...

yea i read about that in the paper today i thought it was quite odd as they do/did refer to ww2 as the great patriotic war, and communism does not utilise racism, perhaps it has to do with the lack of oppurtunity for young russians. on another note it was 420 which if you know about it makes the russian incidents seem less important

Hitler would have wiped out the Russians to the last man if he had the chance. This is just surreal :

Duh! When you absolutely have to get a reaction from old people you turn to something rebellious. Devil worship, sex, drugs, music, just pick whatever irritates ordinary citizens the most. Hitler is better than devil worship in Russia.

It's more like drugs, then drug-induced disassociation, then devil worship.

Dislike of foreigners is gaining taste among a good number of Russians, but not in such the blatant Hitler saluting style.

The police are much more likely to be in the pocket of the local "boss", not Putin. Not much any police force can do anywhere to protect small pockets of foreigners here and there. It's much easier to protect them if they are indoors and out of sight, if only for a while. Anyway they're free to go out at their own risk.

Questioning Putin is not unlawful. Running about screaming "OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT!" and chucking stuff at Specnaz riot control is looked upon... unfavorably.
