I know you've already heard this before also, but, if you are really truly desperate for a modeller, why don't you do it yourself? You can get 3dsmax cheaper as a student.
I'll tell you a true story. It might help.
There was once a one-man mod team with no prior experience that set out to create a full conversion original fantasy mod.
Sure it took some time, and he had to learn most of the modding along the way. He even had to do most of the work himself, but he was determined, and oh, how determined he was.
He garnered enough respect and support to eventually get a major contribution of units from Shogo, units from the abandoned mod The Crescent and the Cross.
In fact, he garnered so much respect and support that he got his expert coder in the form of Makanye.
This is the story of the mod End of Days, started alone by Satanea Juda.
Impressed? Definitely. Inspired? I know I am. I've even joined a mod team for some experience, just in case I get hit with an inspired mod idea.
before you ask a RTW modding question make sure you have done these things:
1. At least read these two stickies in the Modding Questions forum: Introduction and Welcome
2. used the search function (upper right corner of your screen) to know if your Q has been asked before.
3. browsed the Modding Answers subforum, and the Scriptorium.

I would urge all those new to modding or involved in new mods to please read the articles written by experienced modders on various aspects of the same.
It is clear from many of the new would-be mods arising that these articles have been ignored.
and the fact is, you are not in desperate need of a modeler. Make a list of all that needs done, what is done, and how much you need for at least beta release. This will help you measure how much needs to be done. Units may seem the most important thing to a mod, but what good are they if you don't have a map or any coding done?
Concentrate on getting the coding done. When you are done that, and you still do not have a modeler, I would suggest priming the EDU, DMB, EU and whatever other files you need, so that you can quickly insert the units locations in DMB when they are done. Bada Boom, bada bing, you are done.
Well said, Roman Man 3!
I'd suggest re-using Vanilla models if you're desperate. Or then do simple swapping operations.
