Default Re-Train or Reinforce a little help ?

Am I right in assuming that if you re-train a depleted unit in one of your MIC's then it comes out full strength and at the same experience level. I haven't paid much attention in games but it appears to have happened to my Roman units when I bring them back from far flung outposts !

When I send out drafts of raw recruits and merge with understrength vetran units it dilutes their experience.

I know this may be obvious to many so I apologise in advance but I would just like to now for certain.

Come to think of it, I never really cared to look exactly whether my retrained units keep their exp or suffer a decrease.
If they keep it, I'd consider this rather wrong. I mean, they are reinforced with green troops so there should be a drop in exp depending on the percentage of added fresh recruits.
Has anyone made a precise observation on this?

Yes the retrained units come out at full strength with the same experience level.
But i have seen it not happen atleast once... my 22 man strong 3 bronze chevron Triarii came out of retraining with full strength and onle 1 bronze chevron...
Also most people have it as part of their house rules not to retrain as this is considered an exploit.

Basically, it's weighted. Like you mentioned, a 22 man Triarii maniple with 3 gold chevrons will drop significantly in experience when you add all those fresh 'green' recruits (it's averaged). The idea being that you have your 'green troops' built around a core of grizzled veterans. Obviously you'd retain the knowledge and skills of the 'old men of the march' but it would be offset by the relative inexperience of the troops that you have added to the mix. I tend to roleplay this stuff, sending small highly experienced units into my training cities to act as 'drillmasters' for the new crop of Roman meat for the grinder. I once took a single Triarii trooper with 3 gold chevrons and sent him to Rome to 'train' my first Marian Legion. Doesn't really do anything but I like the concept.
