The game isn't perfect and peasants are one of those units that that the game is probably better off without. Most mods tend to remove peasants all together because the AI spams so many of them. The AI has a tendancy to spend everything it has and build huge stacks, there a different ways to approach this economic problem, and again it's a modding issue. Having certain low quality units go "out of date" at certain eras is one other way of combatting this problem. For example you could make vanilla spearmen only available in early, guaranteeing that no more are built once the high period starts. Also the building training influences can be altered to encourage the AI to build different units. This is rather a balancing act however.Originally Posted by gaiusjulii
