He shifted his eyes, gazing into the forest beyond, but still nothing came. He heard nothing behind him. Another minute passed before he dared turn his head. Unfortunately, as he did it fell to the ground, severed by a clean sword stroke some minutes earlier by the robed monk. His body stood upright for a fraction of a second, blood bubbling from his neck, before it too toppled to the ground. The killer had long since been gone.
