I've been playing the various RTW mods for quite a while now, on my laptop (as I have access to my laptop all the time). This week, I've tried to download Europa Barbarorum, because I read some stuff on it, and it looks to be pretty good.
Well, it'll be easy, I think, as I uninstall RTR. I reinstall RTW, install the patches for 1.3 and 1.5, and install EB.81.
And it doesn't start. Instead, it goes on for 20 minutes with me just seeing the startup screen. Yes, the map is nice, but I'd like to play.
So I uninstall again, and reinstall. This time I install 1.2, 1.3, and 1.5. This time, it still doesn't work.
So I think "Ok, I'll wipe off everything but my saved games" (I have a 10-star, 7-management, and 10-influence general in RTR, and I've grown...attatched to him). However, when I try to send the Rome:Total War file to the recycling bin, it says that the disc is 'write-protected'. "Ok", I think, and stop trying to mess with the file. However, midway into reinstalling, it asks if I have permission to open the RTW file. I click 'ignore', being that I'm the only administrator on the computer. However, when I open up RTW, I get an Adobe file and the warning "Permission denied".
A minute later, it says that RTW is not a valid win32 application. Now all my programs, including freecell and Word, aren't valid win32 applications.
How do I install correctly (so I can do it right on my PC), and how would I fix the problem that my laptop is facing?
