Thread: Realistic command view

This most likely won't happen in MTW, but I would like to see a command like view through the eyes of different generals(assuming the game features an army on the battlefield has multiple generals commanding each unit of soldiers, as in real life) instead of a far view as in STW.

In greek, roman, medieval warfare, if on flat ground, the only thing they could see was in front of them. Many generals, such as Alexander the great, took advantage of this. Infantry in the Macedonian phalanx carried 12-15' spears, 16 men deep, making a wall of spears blocking the view from the enemy of any support behind.

Instead of having one commanders view though, it should be optional to instantly swich views to different commanders, or maybe anyone in the army. A mini-map, of course, can show how your whole army is doing.

And if people don't like that idea, have it optional when hosting a game.
    - A conclusion is simply the place where someone got tired of thinking.
    - The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history.

Well, you're probably right in that we won't get that. Looking at the units through the eyes of your gen the sprites will look very ugly. Remembe, this aren't poly units.

Besides, in battle this view would do you no good. You'd have no clear view of the battle and no way to control your units.
