    Default Money ????

I am playing as Carthage in RTW and I have a spy in the only remaining Scipii city (Capua) and it has a negative income. I had a battle with the Scipii and I lost but I seriously hurt them. If the Scipii have a negative income how are they able to retrain or form new units. Same thing for the Roman Senate, how can support a large Army with a negative income.

    Hi mkirchner,
The senate are really just a special case. I think that they get a money boost on any difficulty level enabling them to build up their huge purple stacks.

The only thing that could possibly be aiding the Scipii would be the money boost that the higher difficulty levels provide. However, is it possible that they have a large treasury already from any prior savings. Unfortunately, if it's not the difficulty level, that is the only conclusion that I can come to.

    Hope this helps, cheers!

Check the money graphs. The Scipii might have a mountain of cash as Omanes says. Despite having a negative income they may be living off a cash stockpile from years ago when their empire was bigger.

Another explanation is that having hurt them bad they now have less army wages. When the Capua city income next recalculates it wont be negative anymore.

On VH campaign a faction gets a minimum of €10k income per turn. They still have to pay army wages though so theres a limit to what they can do.

It's me the original poster again, I am playing on med/ med (I am still learning the game). This happened very early in the game. I quickly captured Sicily and the Brutii cities in S. Italy. It had to be less than 25 turns into the game. If the AI gets extra $$$$ each turn why bother with blockades. Also does the other AI factions get the $$$$ boost like Egypt or Thrace.

Yep, it sadly does get a boost on higher difficulty levels, whoever the AI faction is. On Normal however, no faction usually gain boosts unless it's been scripted in by the player through modding the game files.

Very good point, they really are rendered pointless in R:TW on higher levels. It's a shame that they didn't do what they did in M:TW, have the AI more intelligent on harder levels rather than providing it with cash bonuses.
