Which vanilla version of RTW will give the best overall playing experience
    as Julii?
I was playing 1.3 this AM and noticed momentary freeze-ups a number of times.

I highly suggest RTW 1.5 due to the many fixed bugs in game.

    thanks for the reply.
I thought I saw on the forums that 1.5 had a bug regarding the civil wars.

    Hi eugeni,
I'm sorry to disagree with you Caius, yet 1.5 did, sadly, introduce a nasty civil war bug which can completely ruin a game as it reaches it's climax. The bug in questions does this by disallowing the player's faction, if Roman, to attack the other Romans. I suggest that you attempt to use patch 1.3 as the bug was present within this patch. Hope this helps, cheers!

The 1.5 bug only occurs when you agree to a ceasefire with a Roman faction after the civil war starts, you can completely avoid the bug if you don't.

True, however, for me, that is something which I always do, I always avoid sharing borders with one Roman faction so I can end the war whenever I desire through alliances, so, to me, it would be a nasty bug should I encounter it. However, I have Gold edition 1.5, and I have never experienced the nasty bug. I'm not too sure, yet I think that there must be specific conditions for it to emerge and destroy a game - perhaps the senate has to be alive or, if they are alive, you have to have a popularity with the people above eight?
