Viking Era CTD

I seem to have a lot of hybrid questions lately, so bear with me. I added a faction (FREE21, I think) to the Viking campaign to represent the East Anglians. Everything Works, except:

1) CTD occurs whenever I play as a faction next to them, or them themselves.

2) The Welsh have all their flags

Do you mean the Welsh have the flags that the East Anglians were supposed to have? I'm not sure about that, but check your files to make sure you assigned flags to the right faction.

I've had the problem you describe happen myself, where you can't play as a bordering faction or the new faction you've made. In those cases, the problem was the flag images; you'll need to go back through the flag and shield sections to check and make sure you put the right numbers and letters in the right places. Typos are easy to miss and sometimes a stupid piece of misplaced punctuation can cause a CTD.

Have you been using Starkhorn's "adding a faction in VI" guide? I printed out a copy myself years ago and aside from a couple of minor errors or problems when converting his process to the "viking" map, it works perfectly. Good luck!
