Few industries could be less flighty than Buddhist temple construction.

It is a little sad that they finally closed down, but then I doubt any other single business on the planet can claim to have lasted as long. Gotta give 'em credit where credit's due!

Be pretty difficult to best that record, certainly. Not that there weren't some seriously old firms still around though. Take Beretta for one. And while it's not a "business" per ce, the custodianship of the keys to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre has run in two local Muslim families since Saladin's recapture of the city in 1192...

I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."

I had some beer from what was supposedly the oldest continuously operating brewery in the world (since 1040 apparently) the other day. It was quite nice.

Really interesting. Thanks for sharing, a pity it got lost. But hey, that's the free market, and that's investing in something proven over fifty years earlier to be a bubble.
