Default halberdiers and two handers/ what are they for?

basically they are pretty much worthless now. especially spearwall halberdiers. they never increased their marching speed and now they lose to just about any unit in the game now.

They're like cavalry, except the speed. Use them the same way. They can't hold the line, but they can charge and cut things up, just like cavalry. Don't let them get bogged down, always have other infantry there, and try to get them around the flanks.

This doesn't apply to all of them however, JHI for example, can hold the line very, very well.
Still maintain that crying on the pitch should warrant a 3 match ban

You need to identify been eastern Halberds and Western Halberds...

I have found the standard western halberd militia to be basically pretty inferior to everything (with the possible exception of pike militia)...

There is a thread about this here:

Right. Most of the 2H units end up horribly underbalanced in 1.2, since presumably their stats were tweaked in accordance with the broken shield results 1.0 was giving. The devs as much as said that they had a plan for unit stats all laid out, but when they started testing, the results were coming out far different from expected, so units were modified as a result. Hopefully the next patch will take the game "back to formula" in that regard. In the meantime, you can have a look at the 1.2 balance thread (should be still on the front page) and make contributions.

It's my first post here, so hello everyone.

I think spearwall halberds are among the best units in the game. For example, Denmark has got swordstaff militia (kind of spearwall halberds) and outstanding obudshaer. I used 10 Obudshaer against an uber mongol full stack. Guard mode off, spearwall on, head-on attack. They took some casualties before reaching melee but after that those halberds really kicked mongol ass. Soon the remains of the mongol stack were running away. The best unit of obudshaer got 149 kills and most others got over 100 too. That was on hard difficulty, using the ProblemFixer. I can't wait to get to combat the mongols with these supermen.
I admit I do not have much experience with other spearwall-capable halberds like french voulgier (sp?) but I'd expect them to work the same way. I do not know how these units perform without the ProblemFixer either.

    Regards, Guru
