Thread: No tooltips problem - 1.2

Default No tooltips problem - 1.2

applied the official 1.2 patch, and although tooltips still show up for objects on the actual campaign map, they're nowhere to be found on the HUD. The game is almost unbearably tedious without them. I'm assuming this isn't a settings issue, but rather some issue with my hardware; either way, does anyone have any insight? Anyone else experienced this?

For the record, I run the game with nearly full settings, and have really never had a graphical issue of any kind until now...

Im having the same problem but i can manage with just right clicking everything(its tedious, but at least i can see what the **** a building is named instead of having to identify a stupid picture :P).

If it helps, my hw is:
    core 2 duo 2,4
    gf 7950gt
    asus p5w dh motherboard
    2 gigs of corsair memory(i think 5400).

Did you guys install the patch over version 1.1 or did a fresh install and then applied patch? I read here in one of the threads that installing the patch over 1.1 gave issues like this.

    Hi

same Problem (among others). No tooltips.

I did a complete uninstall, fresh install, then patch1.2 without patching to 1.1 first.

    Greets

edit: BTW, i'm not using any no-cd-patches, as stated here:

Argh, Imoen was incredibly annoying in the english version too. I usually whacked her immediately with the two guys outside Candlekeep...

It was funnier in the sequel though, when I could leave her beind in that dungeon... "beat it, brat!"

Honestly, no comparison . I know, cause I checked the original version just in case... I still couldn't bear her, but it was way better.

It's like, the English voice actor overdid her instructions to make an "eager girl", but the French one was given orders to imitate an attention-whoring nail screaming through a blackboard, and just went upwards from there. The worst was, you just could feel the boredom and dullness behind it, whereas the English version sounded at least a bit authentic, if annoying. But the French was both ultracheerfull AND devoid of any emotion whatsoever at the same time. It was like a reverse masterpiece .

But that's a common problem in French game dubs, you can actually hear the actors not giving a toss. I mean, it's sometimes also true of the original English, but it's kind of a tradition in French. I don't know why :/

But the reverse can also be true. In M2, the French dubbing does sound like a general shouting to his men, I was a bit disappointed with the matter-of-fact tones the original speaches have. Then again, they have the advantage of being more than one liner, and of being grammatically correct, so...

Anything wrong ? Blame it on me. I'm the French.

Remember, we're against piracy and cracking games here at the Org

That said, if you are running a no-cd crack, you've got two problems:
    - if you patched with it in place, the patch will have failed
    - if you reapplied it after patching, you're running the wrong exe

Use the legit cd and save yourselves a lot of hassle

    Hi sapi,

as mentioned: I'm NOT using any unofficial files !!!!!

(I own TW original CDs from STW until MTW II)

I just linked the post to make clear that's not the problem in my case of the missing tooltips.

But since I suffer the "freeze after the second turn"-bug, I'm not able to play at all with 1.2. So the tooltips are a secondary issue....

    (see this thread:)

    Thx anyway

EDIT: now I got a working 1.02-Version. See the upper link

I am having the same problem with tooltips as the first guy in this thread. The Tooltips show on the campaign map but not on anything else.

I have only tried this game with V1.2. I installed the game, installed the V1.2 patch. But not only the tooltips are broken, I also have the 'General stuck in animation after siege battle win with constant hourglass cursor' - see here for the thread to this issue. https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=84890

Edit: Found the problem. I was using a bad No-CD patch after i installed the V1.2. So you need to use your original .exe with the DVD or get a working No-CD patch.
