From the leader of Carthage: We would question the idea of "Carthaginian aggression". We were merely coming to the defense of our ally, to prevent them from being exterminated by the Kender. What were we to do, stain our honor and stand by while one who counted us a freind was being exterminated? Such is not the way of Carthage. We stand by our allies in times of need, rather than abandoning them.

Second of all, we were not initiators of conflict with Syracuse. By coming within range of our fleet and threatening our borders, they leave us with little choice but to make sure that they do not have the oppportunity to attack our cities. It was Syracuse, not Carthage, who waged needless war. We urge Syracuse to stop this charade and accept a ceasefire.

Twas your ally that started the war in the islands, who attacked the once peaceful cities of Kender time and again. Only when their nefarious plans had been foiled did you attack.

I give you one warning; take your army and your armada and leave these islands and waters. Tell your allies on Sardinia to stay on their island and cease making war. If you do not, the glorious forces of Venice shall throw you from these lands and restore peace.

As to the Umbrians; what is your excuse for so violently attacking our good allies, the Illyrians?

One but cannot help smiling at the irony of the Illyrian situation
Such a peaceful nation so economically advanced who had until now remained out of the devestating effects of war, then in one fell swoop the Umbrians take two of their city's thus throwing them into the now worldwide war.

Why should I tolerate such an invasive neighbor?

I am not my neighbor, though, I am myself, and I know I'm not going to invade myself.

    Who controls these Umbrians.

Faust. Say goodbye to your puny army.

there are about 2500 infantry and missiles and 1500 cavalry. At Skittle there were 700 infantry and missiles, and 500 cavalry.

    Oh fun

Expect an army about 10 times that size to come your way.

pfah! Our only regret is that we did not sack all five of your coastal cities at the same time!

... and that we could not yet make little bloody splotches of your men on the map.

As for our aggression... well face it, you were probably already eyeing the smaller and embattled Umbrian territory as a colony. We mean no threat to the Venetians, but we cannot stand by idly while to the east an audience to the stage of Italy prepares to feast after the show... on the actors!

Is that another way of saying, 'No, I'm not leaving Corsica?'

The Gauls have the same number of cities as the Kender people you seek to destroy to enrich yourself. So no, I don't consider it ironic. Kender is my ally, Gaul was not.

Now, are you going to leave Corsica?

Interesting that Venice would so clearly defy the wishes of the Gods. Not long ago, the Gods clearly expressed their discontent with Kender. Me and my ally were merely attempting to honor the wishes of the Gods. I would be careful, if I were you, Venice, lest you too draw their wrath. Defying the Gods may result in divine retribution.

Additionally, you seem to fail to see the point I am making regarding Gaul. There was once a time when Gauls lived in their native regions, in their own capital. Yet you decided to crush them into subserviance, for no other reason than to increase your own power. And now you criticise other nations for doing the same thing. Please, Pot, stop calling the Kettle black.

Also, you will have my answer soon enough.

OOC-Yes, I realize the irony of the first paragraph.
