When can I build Legionary Cavalry?

I am in my current campaign as Brutii (v 1.5). I have plopped down a pro-consul's palace. But when I right click on Hippodrome, it shows that I can't train legionary cavalry, only more experienced Equites. I think that when I played two years ago (v 1.0), I could train legionary cavalry from hippodromes. I am a bit confused here. What's the requirement for training legionary cavalry

. The scipii are running away in military power and I need to build up my army ASAP.

Hi bippukt,
Don't worry! There is nothing wrong with your game! You just have to wait for the Marian Reforms before they can be constructed. The conditions for these reforms are one Imperial Place in Italy or Scilly which is not Rome. Hope this helps, cheers!

BTW, in vesion 1.0, Marian Reforms were not required as far as I can remember. Anyway, to get those heavy cavalry faster, I think I will just move all my governors except Tarentum out of their cities and then conquer and enslave the last Thracian city. Should get to 24k fast that way

. Any drawbacks, apart from the public order and squalor problems? Also, Marian Reforms are individual or collective for Roman factions? I mean, if I trigger the Marius reforms, will the Scipii benefit as well?

I think your mistaken, perhaps your thinking of the pre-Marius Praetorian Cohorts bug in 1.0? Romans don't have any pre-Marius Heavy Cavalry, only Light Cavalry (Equites).

Also, Marian Reforms are individual or collective for Roman factions? I mean, if I trigger the Marius reforms, will the Scipii benefit as well?

Marian Reforms effect all Roman factions, so yes.

same as yours,in hippodrome....

before marius reform.......

coz i build arena at minor city and hippodrome in large city to get extra 20% happiness each that improve public order so i never have any riot in all my settlements,that's why i know...hehe!

Now I think I remember that it was indeed after the marius reforms. Two years is a long time.

And a little bit of rioting occasionaly is good for your Governor. Just don't let it get out of control.

i dun no that,but it is risky coz riot may kill your governor....i won't try that...

Well, this is an excerpt from Aesculapius' guide "On the Feeding and Breeding of Governors and Generals":

Amazing though it may seem, riots and rebellion are good for your governors. These events force them to get tough and develop generally good traits such as ‘Authoritarian’, ‘Disciplinarian’, ‘Rabble-rousing’ and ‘Harsh Justice’. However, if such unrest is brought about by lazy tax policies – in other words if it happens when tax is anything other than ‘Low’ – the governor will certainly become known as a ‘Bad Administrator’.

So, just follow the above advice and keep the order at 70% and you should not have any problems. It's nice :)
