Is it me or since 1.2, alliances are dropped as soon as a diplomatic demand is refused?
It seems like whenever one of my allies refuse to exchange map information, give military access or even receive gifts, our alliance automatically ends.![]()

failing in negotiations appears to make your relations drop, especially if your asking for demanding, or even balanced trades. It's possible, that your relations dropped just enough for them to say "screw it, he's asking too much, break off our alliance"

Actually, the relations remain the same.
In my current campaign as the Moors, I was allied with Egypt and the Turks. My relations with both of them is stable at "very good", before and after they drop out of the alliance.
I can buy them back, but it seems like once they have accepted alliance and regular tribute, it's better to avoid any sort of diplomatic exchange with them.
I had lots of diplomatic offers declined by AI allies, and the alliance was never auto-canceled like that. Sounds like bad luck to me.

And they know why they do what they do,
But they do not know what what they are doing does

Likely they are on the process of attacking your country. They just take that as an excuse to cancel the alliance.
That's true. When they cancel the alliance when you ask for a trade of something, it means they are planning to attack you. The attack will usually come within 10 turns.Originally Posted by RickooClan
