    Default Missing general - help

After winning a battle, my general disappeared from a campaign map.
There is only a name label. I can select him and move, but can not enter a city. Some time he shows, but without a banner... In the family member list scroll he appears to have no bodyguard.

    here is a screenshot

note that he has no banner, and there is a tooltip saying that he has no bodyguard...

Is there a way to restore my general?

    I have M2TW patched to 1.2

DVX, did anything resolve this, or is it still happening? One of the quirkier bugs I've heard of.

I didn't find the way to restore him, so I simply reloaded from the old save file (good thing I had one, from about 10 turns earlier).

It never happened again, but I never got the chance to have another battle with this general in the open field. He was killed when the Mongols overrun Adana...

I still have the save file when this strange thing happened, and I'll do some testing when I find some spare time.

I have had a general "disappear" once or twice as well. I immediately save the game, go back in and "voila", he was back!

Musta been some kind of glitch.

i've had this happen to me once or twice, but i found a nifty way around it. Go the the Lists scroll and find your general (the one that went disappearing on you) and click him and get to his info, then click the 'go to' little magnifying glass, and it should select him and show him +units even though he's not visible and simply move him and he should re-appear.

Of course, what i did could always have been a fluke as well though

as for the OP, i've never encounterd this, but if someone finds a workaround without restoring, i'd love to hear it so i could be prepared in advance

That sounds more like you used the move_character command on the general who was inside a city to move him elsewhere. That causes him to become invisible until you send him into a city again and out. You can see him animate though on the campaign map still.

As for the OP's problem, its likely that in his previous battle he lost his entire bodyguard but for some weird reason was not given the 1 bodyguard you get post battle if your general is still alive. Actually it does happen at times but that will result in the general dying due to the lack of the bodyguard unit (shows as died peacefully). Maybe in your case that trigger didn't fire when he lost all his bodyguards leaving him in that odd state. Nothing you can do to fix it I think, unless the game still gives him bodyguards each turn.

No, I'm afraid that was not the case. The battle was an easy win, I used my general's bodyguard only to deliver a final blow to the enemy, and to chase some routers afterwards. There might have been a few casualities, maybe one or two, I don't remember exactly...

Thank you, I will send the savegame to the CA. Hopefully, they will manage to fix it.
