Historical Family Tree's

Hey,

I've noticed several Family Tree's (Notably, Seleucids) have some interesting characters in them.

For example, "Achaios" seems to be older than Antiochos Soter, and yet did not inherit the throne of Seleucus. Why is this? Was Achaios a real person?

Also, what about people like "Sarpedon Syriakos". They are apparantly cousins, or uncles, or brothers of the established rulers of Selukeia, but i've never found any information on any of them.

Was there really a man named "Sarpedon" who was a blood relative of Seleucid Rulers, or was he just someone that EB made up to provide a larger Seleucid family tree at the game's start? If it's the former, i'd very much like to know about these people.

At a quick glance, he had a brother named Achaios according to the chart in Green's Alexander to Actium, but I'll have to look the rest of that up from our earlier discussions. That faction is the worst one to try and get a family for accurately, as they need a few other governors that are hard to fit into the immediate family tree - his kids may be theorized.

I don't see much of anything on Achaios, but we didn't make him up - that's why we decided to use his line as a way to tie into some of these other generals we wanted to include. Looks like he had a son Andromachos, and we did include him (yay!), but also threw in a daughter and another son. Since we can't repeat names in any single family, we couldn't name her Laodike, so I changed it to Antiochis, an appropriate name for the family.

Just remember that the system for RTW is very rigid in this respect, no previous marriages, more than 4 kids, marrying within a family, using the same name twice, unrelated lines, etc. All of that is off limits, so we have to make do the best we can. Hope this helps.

Oh so the EB team has influenced what my family members name's are? How interesting.... maybe thats why Antigonos's son(his new one that he had.) was named Demetrios, and Philip's son is named Perseus, since Perseus is on one of the loading pictures as a ruler of Macedon?

That Perseus is not the Perseus. King Perseus was born somewhere around 212bc. But it's fun to try and recreate the royal succession of hellenic factions. If one studies the Seleucid kings list or the Ptolemaic list, you'll find it's pretty wild and imaginative stuff. Gives an idea of the inner struggles of both factions.
