Well, he's gonna find out now.![]()
There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.
“Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedy.”
To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticise.

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
May he rest in peace.
In the last half century he has preached to many people, seeking to bring them closer to salvation, as well as having offended others with precisely the same messages.
Falwell is now before the "Only Opinion" who Falwell himself believed really mattered.
"The only way that has ever been discovered to have a lot of people cooperate together voluntarily is through the free market. And that's why it's so essential to preserving individual freedom.” -- Milton Friedman
"The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule." -- H. L. Mencken
Well, he supported a lot of positions I disagree with, but done is done. Rest in peace, Mr. Falwell.
Rest in peace.
Falwell told the story of Hezekiah, who in the Bible asked to live for 15 more years.Originally Posted by Seamus Fermanagh

I smell a Larry Flynt editorial in the making...

Goodbye.
If you're fighting fair you've made a miscalculation.
I've always believed the Falwell vs LArry flint debacle was similar to the Andy Kaufman vs Lawler fued, a totally staged act between two opposites looking to gain notoriety amongst their peers.
Falwell, and his bogus suit against Flint for a satirical piece in a porn magazine, helped shape the US legal standard for libel/slander and as such he deserves a permanant place in 1st amendment textbooks forever and ever. Rest in peace u crazy bastard.

Larry Flynt had a nice statement on the passing of Rev Falwell.

Meh, I don't care enough to really say anything else on this subject, but I will say this much. My opinion posted earlier was an extremely politically corrected manner of stating my true thoughts.Originally Posted by Ser Clegane

Nobody forces anybody to make flattering statements here. We just "appreciate" the more critical reviews or statements about the lives of recently deceased are at least kept back for a while.Originally Posted by Whacker

You dont agree with a mans politics and you post in a thread that is paying respects? Why didnt you just stay out? Did ou really think we couldnt go without such gems asOriginally Posted by Whacker
How deep man! This changes everything!!!!!1111111. Just stay out next time you dont have anything nice to say. If Mr.Fawells family were walking donw the street you wouldnt say it to them so why say it here? Quit trying to play dissenting rebel and shutup. The same goes for all of you who wouldnt say anything to the family.Good riddance. That is all I have to say.

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.
I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.
I didn't see anywhere in the thread topic or Dave's post about "paying respects". And you can keep that idiotic self-righteous attitude to yourself in the future kiddo, and don't tell people how or when to post.Originally Posted by Strike For The South
