Thread: Aarg!

    Default Aarg!

    Hullo!

I hope this is the right place to post this query.

I just got myself Med Total War 2, and there is a maddening bug. Basically, I start playing - maybe for five minutes of so - and then the screen freexes on the campaign map. It will unfreeze a few seconds later, but it does this continuously. If I play a battle, it will freze within seconds.

I've downloaded the 1.2 patch, and it's no different.

My system is a Pacard Intel Core 2, 1gb ram, latest direx x updates, G Force 7300 graphics card, 512 mb ram.

I tried fiddling around with the video and audio settings, but it's made no difference. Any advice on what to d next?

    Thanks.

I assume you've at least made sure your not having your system resources being eaten up by other programs running in the background. Sometimes people forget about something as simple as them having an anti-virus program that scans constantly, which could really do that

I was running a much inferior system to that and never encountered those problems. I doubt it is a game bug, and it surely cant be a system deficiency problem for the reason above. Maybe it is an inherant problem caused by your Pacard Bell and the way it is set up?

Make sure your CPU or Video Card aren't overheating

Like whiskeyghost said, that's a common problem with antivirus, spyware checkers etc... so make sure M2 is the only thing running.

I used to have random freezes like that back in the day, when I was playing Dark Age of Camelot (only when it froze, it stayed frozen), turned out to be an overheating video card. Or possibly a power unit not giving enough wattage for my comp (changed both at the same time).

Could be that your processor's thermic paste is getting old, if you've been using that comp for more than a year. Change it (or have it changed if you don't know how to)

Could also merely be dust, or what I like to call "grunk", that thick brownish pasty kind of dust that seems to spontaneously appear inside computers. Open it, clean it through and through (radiators, ventilators, air intakes and exhausts...), try again. You'd be surprised how often a simple cleaning solves overheating problems
Anything wrong ? Blame it on me. I'm the French.

I had a similar problem, and re-configuring my virus scan software fixed it entirely.
