    The campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt file in data/text can be a pain in the .....

    For some reason that must be to do with the save type or hidden formatting it often doesn't seem to like you trying to write one from scratch. Or even sometimes typing in chunks from scratch. I got fed up with trying to work out why and just copy a working version like imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt, re-name it copy and paste chunks of the file and overwrite my info into existing brackets etc! Try copying and pasting your info to the bottom of a copy of an existing one and see if that works. Or using copy of existing one overwrite info for first few regions with your names and see if that gets you off error for region (0)

    Only flaw in this suggestion is I think error you normally get when it can't read the text file is " can't find region .... in region DB ", but if you really have got rest of map files the same as before I can't think of anything else

    (PS if anyone else knows why that file is difficult to edit could they please explain!)

    To me that errors looks like the error you'd get if one of the faction listed as a region "owner" faction in descr_regions doesn't appear in descr_stat. So if the macedon faction wasn't listed as playable, unlockable or unplayable in descr_stat, but is listed in descr_regions I'd expect an error like this.

    Squid that was exactly what "seemed" to be the problem ...

    I had, but succesfully ran so before, the senate as faction creator in the descr_regions file as creator of all regions but didnt use it in the descr_strat file ..

    I altered it to the greek_cities wich is in the descr_strat file and I got an other error about not being able to create settlement at line 860 wich was the first settlement in the descr_strat file

    So I made sure the text file got the same order in regions as I had in the descr_regions file and all my problems are gone ...

    better yet I now can pull of what I couldnt before, run a campaign game with no Roman faction whatsoever ... (with just 5 factions I made turn 20 without any visible problems)

    anyway, that'll teach me putting back images/reinstalling without taking good care I made a back-up of everything

    Do apreciate the feedback/help guys ..;)
    (or might it girl Makanyane....?)

    Oh well I was completely wrong again - curious why it worked before with faction creator not in strat?

    But yeah, girl, and the relevant bit is probably the Makanyane, prefix but it's from a language I'm not that good on...

    maybe its one of those things that only pops up if you push things, like I'm pushing the max. of about anything with this map (its not like its the first weird thing I uncover by making this map ..:P)

    In my language, Dutch, you'd translate it to "Mom can yane", the yane could at most be a name as it doesnt mean a thing but the first part pretty much adds up .... "Mom can .." ..;)

    Edit;
    Seems the faction-creator isnt relevent, I can now go back to setting the senate as faction-creator since I have lined up the regions/settlements as they appear in the descr_regions file, so I guess that that is .. er .. "the rule" here, keep it in the same order as descr_regions ...
    /edit

    Edit2;
    The faction-creator setting doesnt seem to matter for loading a game, it does matter for keeping a game going!!
    when I use the greek_cities as faction-creator I can run a game without any issues (at least not up to 20-ish turns), but when I make it the senate the first rebel army that pops-up causes a CTD (explains why rebels kept causing me CTDs in a provincial campaign)
    /edit

    Several (if not all) the files in text folder behave "strange" in some aspects. For example, I cannot compare them with KDiff3, as only symbols appear instead of normal text. This doesn't happen with any other txt file.
