In 1.02 if I ask, will my allies come to my aid?
As england I'm at war with Denmark and France and my allies are Byzantines and Sicily, if I ask will they help me?

From my experience your allies wont help you. At least in my games they dont even declare war on my target-nations.

Let's just say they may not go out of their way for you... you can't expect them to march half a continent to fight off someone they've probably never met. Don't allies respond based on how strong the alliance is?
My relations with both Sicily and Byzantines are Perfect, also the Sicilians had a minor skirmish with the French earlier in the game.

The code that forces allies to declare war on your target seems to be disabled in v1.2.
They are at least forced to help you, if you attack and one of their units is within "enforcement range". Then they'll have a war automatically. That just got me into an unintended war with the pope, when his ally (Venice, which I happened to be at war with) attacked my fleet with an, at that time neutral, papal one next to mine.
Before that, nope seems not to be.
That's not fair because my enemies allies attack me and it's not nice that I now have to fight 3 nations(HRE joined the France-Denmark Alliance), now unless I get help from my allies my game is lost.
