The 2H axe bug is fixed. Do be wary however that since the shieldbug for shield units was fixed it neuters many 2handers due to no stat balancing of the two.

Actually the 2H Axe stats are balanced compared to S&S units, but their animation against them hasn't actually improved.
All CA did was add a new stabbing motion for use against cavalry. The animation used for infantry remains exactly the same. They will still parry incessantly throughout a melee. When they finally do use their overhead smash animation, they are easily parried by the quicker swords. 2H Axe units are still absolutely lethal in a flanking charge, but in a standing melee they will lose to a comparable S&S unit.
One workaround is to give them the animation used by JHI, but that would make them extremely overpowered.
