    Hi guineawolf,
Sorry, but in that situation, only the primary general, the one commanding the whole battle, has effects on his troops. Sorry.

not entirely true.. if ya main general dies in battle ya still have your second one.. it's good to have a back up in case one of your generals die and ya out of town.

I'm not too sure about that redriver. In my experience, if the main general dies/runs away, the second guy simply acts as heavy cavalry - he never seems to take command. However, he still, strangely, gets traits out of the battle such as Good Commander, even though he was not commanding it. The same is often true for Captains and the man-of-the-hour event - my Captain died, but the new Captain of the army gained the prestigious reward of adoption.

One of the developers posted a long time ago that the game has no concept of a second-in-command. However, it appears any post-battle traits go to whoever is commanding the stack after the battle.

This has happened to me as well. It was very nice to get a free general with 2 command stars when my old general died because I wasn't paying attention.

Having the 2nd general on the battlefield is of little value per se. As noted above, they are only a high-morale (and usually lower numbers) heavy cav unit (nothing wrong with that usually, it's a useful tactical unit).

However, having two generals with your stack is VERY useful in that:

    1 assassination doesn't leave you with a captain-only army

Post battle traits have somewhere to be awarded should your primary commander "throw away his life."

Cool ancillaries acquired in battle can be shunted to the 2nd leader so that the primary can acquire another -- then pass them around to all your friends.

The second guy can be sent off on errands -- build a tower, build a fort, duck across the border and find me a band of Sarmatians -- without the need to divert and slow the infantry force.

In short, the payoff for two generals is greater flexibility on the Strategic map, not on the tactical map.

i finally found out something since i can place 2 general in 1 army,if i use the secondary general to slaughter those routers, would the secondary general get the famously courageous(+3 morale for all troops in battlefield)??

i do it so can let the young general get some exercise before he replace the old general commanding post......since the general's most important job is keep his troops from routing...

AFAIK the trigger for fighting, but not commanding, in a battle does not work, so the second generals won't get any traits, unfortunatly.

when i withdrew a general not in command, some units under morale said (worried of generals withdrawal) or something related to that. 80% sure.

That does happen with the generals with silver stars next to their name on the battle map, although I'm not quite sure why, possibly a bug of somekind or another?

I have noticed when there is more than 1 general, the one commanding gets a gold star, and the rest get a silver star, probably just to help the player know who is the most important. Maybe that answers your questions Omanes,
