My fellow electors England has many tough years ahead, that is true. What we need is a solid plan for the future, now and in years to come. Therefore I wish to make several suggestions as to what should be done now, what can wait, and what we shouldn't worry about.
First and foremost, we should bring the entirety of England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. Or at least the first three. I believe we should do this as a way to help protect England. Do we really want to take the chance of someone else coming and setting up in England? I think not. This might mean losing Caen, but we should be ready to make some sacrifices to make our lands safer.
Second, we should do what we can to bring his holiness to our side, possibly giving him a donation, as was suggested, though only if we can afford to do so.
Third: We must try to keep the French from expanding, or for the very least keep them from attacking us for a few years, by swallowing our pride, and asking for an alliance. This, hopefully, will give us the time to at least secure all of England, and then get ready to deal with the French. I also suggest that we try to get the French at war with the Holy Roman Emperor, this will most likely slow their expansion, and leave both weak for later.
Fourt: We must assert ourselves on the mainland, not just as a way to slow the French, but to show the rest of the world, we English are not weak, and can be just as good or even better then they are.
Alternatively we skip the first two parts, and try to subdue French expansion, but I would highly advise against this course of action. If we get bogged down in the mainland, and have to spend most of our monies there, then we could and will run out of money. This will then make us even weaker, which will be taken advantage of.
My fellow electors, we have several recourses we can take, I suggest we at least try to unify England. And if it is possible we should also try to slow French expansion.
