    Default Web-Bot

Any of you ever here of this project? It was started I believe as a stock market predictor. But it suddenly started spitting out other predictions having nothing to do with the stock market. And it seems some if not many are comig true. Check it out.

If you got the one next to mine, we can equal the payment for passage that we demand once the sahel zone is as rich as promised on page three.

It's hard to say, Gawain. I'd never heard of it until you posted this topic, and when I followed the link, all I could tell for certain, from the self-promoting marketing buzz, is that somebody was trying to sell me something. I'd be hard pressed to say who exactly, or what was being sold. I didn't even find any specific predictions it made, just the assurance that it had a new approach to analyzing time that allowed it to step outside the linear cycle of time (with scant few details on how exactly).

Yes I know I couldnt find a good link. It seems on the show they were talking about the original project. I think its a common tool now in the stock market as thats what it was designed for. I cant find much on the stuff from the history channel

Wait I just found a much better link.

The Web Bot Project and 2012

Maybe some of you have heard of The Web Bot Project, but for those of you who have not, it's quite intriguing.

The Web Bot Project, developed in the late 1990's, was created to assist in making stock market predictions.

The technology uses a system of spiders to crawl the Internet and search for keywords, much like a search engine does. When a keyword is located, the bot program takes a snapshot of the text preceding and following the keyword. This snapshot of text is sent to a central location where it is then filtered to define meaning.

But in 2001, bot operators began to notice that stock market predictions were not the only matters being accurately predicted by the program. They began to take notice of coincidence with occurrences and explored it further.

One of the first accurate predictions from the bot program took place in June of 2001. The program predicted that a life altering event would take place within the next 60-90 days. An occurrence of such proportion that it's effects would be felt worldwide. The program based it's prediction on "web chatter" which ultimately represents the collective unconscious of society.

Regrettably, the bot program's prediction proved accurate and the Twin Towers fell on 9/11/2001.

Here's where it starts to become very interesting. The bot program also predicts a worldwide calamity taking place in the year 2012. For those of you who study astrology, prophecies, and the like, you may already be familiar with this date.

The 2012 thing is actually quite interesting.
Though I wonder how exactly the program came to that result, if it just found some guys here and there, chatting about the apocalypse and mentioning 2012, then it's erm, well, you know...

Actually thats why I brought it up. But I didnt want to start another apocalypse thread per se. It seems tho that we can believe this computer program more than the global warming ones however

2012, well since all the astrology and everything talks about it, I'm sure there would be more pop-ups for it.

Bah, 2012 is not gonna be the apocalypse. Earliest date for that I would say is April 13 2029 when an asteroid called Apophis will pass below the satellite orbit around earth which is extremely close. That is probably gonna be a miss, but some wierd gravitational deflection might still cause it to kill us all

If a bot, designed to pick up chatter on the internet, comes up with a date that is widely known among ancient cultures and practitioners of the occult talk about, I guess it is just as 'fake' as that. The bot has done nothing wrong, only to copy lies that has been spread already. Now if it predicted 2014 or something like that, it would be interesting.

Well, what caught my attention was that the Mayan calendar gave a similar date IIRC, the bible code also mentioned something would happen around 2011 or so I heard, and now you tell me the web-bot gives a similar date.
Now the web-bot wouldn't count if it's prediction is based on the other two, but if it isn't, that's three unrelated "sources" giving very similar dates for something bad to happen. We can then ask ourselves whether it's coincidence or truth for the next few years until we find out in 2011 or 2012.

On a related note, my mom told me the bible code(I didn't bother reading the entire book myself) predicted a nuclear war for this year, or was it last year?
I'm not really worried about either, but three different predictions, from different "sources" sounds rather interesting though I think we won't find out until it really happens, or not.

That's my point, the bot uses all available information on the internet and then draws it's own conclusions. It simply combines sources.

I'm sure that if you knew how it handled web chatter and had ten million reliable persons each submitting some sort of clue or thread of speculation about say 2030 the bot would predict a new apocalypse in that very year.

The bot doesn't work as an independent source but is an information gatherer, only if the available information is correct or has some sort of plausibility will the prediction be of any interest.

No it doesnt. It seeks out key words. It doesnt go into history and compare things. It is in no way connected to the other two.

PS there are many more predictions from other sources that 2112 is the end.

Maybe it did what the CIA didn't prior to 9/11 and listened to Al Quaida chatting about their plans.
