Default Can anything be done about corruption?

As England and HRE, I've noticed insane levels of corruption in my territories in the Middle East. IIRC, I could lose around 1000 florins per city, making what should be a very lucrative settlement into an economically marginal one.

Is there anything that can be done to reduce income losses from corruption? (Short of relocating my capital.)

I've heard law buildings are supposed to reduce corruption, but there's nothing to suggest that they do from the files...

If the problem doesn´t come from your governor (being corrupted and -law traits and so on) just law buildings...

In addition to maintaining public order, the law bonus in a settlement (whether from buildings or governor, to a maximum of 80-100%) reduces corruption, whereas the happiness bonus boosts population growth. Just pump the law bonus of a settlement to reduce corruption.

If you look at the city income sheet, and place a law building in the build queue, the corruption icon(s) will start blinking, showing how much less money will be lost when the buildings done.
    Thats how we know.

Dumb question - but what are the law buildings? The city hall line? Anything else?

Forgot where I read it, but it might be that if you put spies into a settlement it could reduce corruption. Maybe somebody can confirm it.

IIRC the assassins guild line has a law PO bonus. (think its like 5% for level 2 and 10% for HQ or something like that)

Best method is to get a governor in there with lots of law bonuses. A good governor can do wonders for corruption. Of course baring the fact that he comes corrupt himself.

Well obviously you shouldn't move your capital to the Middle East, but if it can go any closer to it, that might be advantageous. It's always worth checking if you can move it to a location more central to your entire empire, and some holdings far far away can really pull on that ideal central location. Of course there may be nowhere in Europe that you can put it that helps your situation in the Middle East at all - it's so far away, you may always just get the maximum amount of corruption allowable. You'd have to play with it to find out for sure.

As for everything else that can be done on location, I think everyone has covered it pretty well between the wall upgrades, barracks line, town hall line, and the few guilds that may grant law bonuses. It might also be worth looking into what traits grant law bonuses and what trigger grant those traits, so you can give your Middle Eastern governors a shot at getting stocked up on law and alleviating the situation themselves. More than likely a lot of them are tied to the law buildings themselves, but one never knows for certain.

Does anyone know off-hand if garrison has any effect on corruption? Logically it would seem to instill some sort of law and order, so one would think it could check corruption. In practice I doubt it is the case, but still I feel the need to ask.

A quick way to get Just:

    1. Build church, thus gaining a point in StrategyChivalry.
    2. Build two levels of town hall

You don't want to get the justice traits(you get them only from building town halls) unless you have a point or more in strategychivalry, as Just is as good as it gets, the evil stuff adds unrest.

slightly off topic, but on the subject of capital relocation, there used to be a macro to calculate the best position for the capital in RTW...I seem to remember someone on here saying they were going to make one for M2TW..has anyone seen it?
