Thread: Iberian Units?

    Default Iberian Units?

How do you get units like Iberian Lancerii, or the Vaasci shock infantry? I seem to be stuck with mid-level units, which is a bit of a headache. Do Iberians get similar reforms to the Celts in 220? Do I need to build regional MIC's in certain places?

To get the lancearii you need to have the highest factional MIC, and there has to be the horse ''resource'' in the region. The Vascii shock infantry you can get in the northeastern-most cities of the Iberian peninsula, probably with a high level regional MIC

Horse resource? Some Iberian lands don't have horses!? Is it a hidden resource, I haven't really looked close enough to notice it.

    Thanks for the reply.

there should be a little icon on the campaign map, it looks like a tiny stable or somesuch, when you put the cursor over it it says ''this community produces good quality livestock''

I thought the required one was this "comunity has a mounts market" or somesuch, and the good quality livestock meant cattle, ect, and was thus trade good.

Horse units are not tied to the horse resource. (Though, if there is a horse resource, there will probably be horse units.)

What affect does the horse resource have then, more trade?

Yeah, just trade. The Lancerii are only in southern Iberia, I forget exactly what providence, but I'm pretty sure at least the two the carthies are in.

The Vascii shock troops are in the factional mic not the regional one. And it's a level 5.

    Cheers...

You can get the Lancers in Gader, Mastia, Arse, Baikor, and Emporion last time I checked.

Hmmm....have to take care of that...these guys should be fielded by the Edetani and Costentani only. Expect a change in the next build.

Wouldn't you think that Iberian tribes like the Turdetani (Guadalquivir Valley) and Illigertes (Ebro-Pyrenees region) would have also possessed elite Iberian troop types, including cavalry?

Don't get me wrong they'd have elites for sure, like some heavier cavalry and infantry that would have served as mercenaries or the retainers of kings. However, that particular kind of cataphract can probably only be justified for those tribes I mentioned.

Will be discussed, though. It's not like it I take executive decisions ( ) without any debate.
