Default Free to a good home...

...6 baby woodchucks. While removing an old 10'x14' metal tool shed in the backyard I tear up the wood floor to find these forlorn little critters. Their eyes are open, but they can barely crawl let alone run. They certainly can't fend for themselves and momma is no where to be seen.

Even though I'm sure they are the descendents of all the woodchucks who have dined on my late wife's flowers over the years; I do not have the heart or desire to leave them to their fate (predatory dogs, cats, coyotes); let alone euthanize them. I tried calling a wild life rehabilitator I used to know, an old high-school chum, but we haven't talked in years. I left a message, but haven't received a reply yet. For now I've left them untouched in their nest, and hope momma comes back and moves them to a new home. What a dilemma...

dude, i saw what one of those things did to Bill Murray, that man is still so traumatised that when he had a custom chopper built for him he based the design on the movie... and you want someone here to take six of them???

perhaps the next poster who deserves a warning gets all six by express post??

    predatory dogs, cats, coyotes
You have coyotes in western NY? Man, those guys get around. I thought we had them exclusively in the southwest.

    Good luck with the 'chucks.
Be well. Do good. Keep in touch.

Kukri, we have scads of coyotes. A colleague at work hunts them with hounds during the fall & winter season. they bagged 27 of them this season in the hills behind my house. They even sight them occasionally in NY City's Central Park.

Before it got dark last night I checked on the little scamps and they were gone. I'm assuming and hoping momma moved them to a safer spot, like the big brush-pile out behind the house. I'll wait to burn it later this summer just to be sure to give'em a chance.

perhaps the next poster who deserves a warning gets all six by express post??
We'll tell him they're puppies, by the time he figures it out...no take backs.

On a slightly related topic, does anyone here want a kitten? Quite a few up for free... They'll get whacked otherwise, and I'll hold YOU responsible for their death....
Still maintain that crying on the pitch should warrant a 3 match ban
