I'm the same. Replicas are cool but I'd always take an authentic one even if it's twice the price (provided I have the money of course).Originally Posted by TinCow
Sadly I intended to start a collection of antiques beginning with a bayonet. I was on the lookout for one the entire trip in Europe and at the Alhambra there was a little store with all sorts in it where I finally found what I'd saved 600 Euros the entire trip for. A great bayonet. I quickly took a photo and shot off to find one of the teachers just to check whether they thought I'd be able to get it back to NZ. She thought it wouldn't be a problem so long as I declare it, but when I came back to the store, barely 5 minutes later it was all shut up and locked and the owner had gone!![]()
So I went home without a bayonet, and had to give the 600 Euro (out of the total 800 I had for the entire trip) back to my parents who were shocked at how little I had spent.
But here is the photo I got of it anyway, sorry it's not very good but I was in a hurry:
The one I was going to get is the 2nd horizontal bayonet.
