Yes, but the difference between that ad and the babe thread is that you know what is in the babe thread, and therefore can decide to look through it or not. Whereas the ad is planted in front of the person looking at the page.
The difference is choice. In one case you've got the choice, in the other you don't.

All Flash ads screw the resource allocation mechanics of my Maxthon. You can burn them all up and I'd be a happier man.

Weirdly, no floating/static Flash ads located at other websites cause problems with Maxthon. I can't udnerstand.
