    Default Most recent upgrade?

As the title says, what is your most recent upgrade? Mine was to upgrade from 1GB of RAM to 1.5GB, through the help of a 512MB stick that i 'liberated' from a broken computer at school. The computer now starts up 20-30 seconds faster, and everything runs much faster. A great improvement, as i am no longer sluggish. BF2 has shown a marked improvement, with much less fps lag. Can't wait to try Oblivion!

So, what's your most recent upgrade?

My latest upgrade, was from a nasty and slow 128MB of RAM and a S3 ProSavage 32MB Graphics Card, to a, although still hopelessly rubbish, but drastically improved, 256MB RAM and a Nvidia Geforce 4 MX420 64MB Graphics Card.

On the gaming side of things, I was granted the ability to play all the latest games, although only on minimum settings. Also, my older games, now could be played on just below maximum settings - although one game continued causing a blue-screen due to it being a corrupted copy - oddly it worked with my last card though! However, on general system performance, I didn't see any really large changes, however, Windows, at the time Windows 98, seemed to install things slightly faster, and the PC ran multiple applications better - although was still very slow.

It was my new 240GB HDD, the old one(80GB) seems to be broken now so I upgraded just in time it seems.

The PC had the extreem surgery two years ago now. It had the capacity to play all of the latest games two years ago, but now, for game-playing, it's highly outdated. I intend to get another, much newer, PC soon, yet, for now, it's just a humble thought.

going from an ATI Radeon 9600 to an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (left over from my brother).

Surprisingly, M2:TW runs more than acceptable with it on modest settings and with shadows turned off

A 250GB external HD. My 75 GB internal HD couldn't hold nearly enough. Within a week I had another hundred GB in the external.

Before that, replaced 2x512 RAM with 2x1024. Very nice.

Next, if all goes according to plan (as if), a 640MB 8800GTS card. If I can work out a trade for it, I'll put down for a PCI-E MB and new CPU. That will be very, very nice.

I had to get a new 160GB harddrive since my previous one broke completely. Took a hell of a long time to find all of the drivers after installing mainly because I coudn't go online without the drivers.

A modest 7600GS to replace my 9600XT. It has made a hell of a difference to M2TW (runs large unit size, medium to high settings), and was a bargain for about £60.

    Thumbs up January 2007

In January, I bought my 2nd hard disk (WD 2500KS) and made software RAID 0 (stripped partition) in Win XP with old WD 1200JS. Also bought 2nd optical drive Pioneer DVR-111D, as my old NEC 3500AG have great problems with reading damaged optical disks, and with writing cd-rw and dvd+/-rw. And I bought new graphics card MSI GeForce 7600GS to replace old Club 3D Radeon 9800LE.

Also friend in service o/c processor and especially memory, and together with RAID 0, system work on edge. Too bad, my example of MSI GeForce 7600GS doesn't want to o/c . Friend has the same, and he o/c pretty much, but my crappy doesn't want to o/c for even 1 MHz.
