Default From When Ads Were Cool

I'm going to start posting old ads that are amusing. Please throw in any offensive/amazing ads that you find. There are some doozies from the old days ...

Go to the videos thread and the Harry Enfield posts. I'll post a few more.

EDIT: Sorry Gawain, but all those pictures were linked directly to the site. If you want to post pictures, you must host them yourself - for example, as Lemur has done using photobucket. BG

There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

I think the massaging vibrators we actually intended for exactly what our dirty minds suggest. I am sure there was an article on it in the Guardian. IIRC Victorian women could also go to their doctor for a "massage" to induce a "hysterical seizure", although I may have got that wrong, the voice over on the documentary was in Dutch...

In another world, I am a member of the Norton Owners Club, and the club mag recently ran a series of ads from the 70s. Big, big hair, and tight, tight pants, and that was just the men. Hilarious, but alas not on line.

Incidently, how frustrated were the proud owners of the Melton Movie Viewer, when they realised it required two hands to operate....

    To re-emphasise forum rules:

Any pictures posted must be hosted by yourself using a site like photobucket or imageshack. If you have your own site, you can use this (it may be worth PMing a mod in this case, as it might not be entirely obvious to us that it is your site).

This is because the Org can get into some difficulties over bandwidth issues and the Admins have quite enough to do without fielding irate emails.

Apologies for being a killjoy, but such is my lot in life.

Thank you kindly for your attention.

Also excellent if you want to get rid of your morphine or opium addiction.
If you're addicted to alcohol, Dean Martin recommends LSD (as rumour has it).

Actually its for Winston cigarettes whos moto was "Winston tastes good like a cigarette should" Yuk.

The Flinstones was an adult cartoon based on Jakie Gleasons the Honeymooners so these commercials were not out of place though it certainly was a mighty popular show with teenagers like myself at the time
